#TeamLucifer is the twelfth episode of the first season of Lucifer. It aired on April 18, 2016.

Summary[]

When a woman is found dead in a pentagram, the words "Hail Lucifer" carved into her back - the investigation leads Lucifer and Chloe into the world of Satanists where things do not always appear as they seem.

Plot[]

A young woman appears to be in the middle of a Satanic ritual. She is stabbed, but it is all fake. Until it becomes all too real and she is killed, her killer talking about the real Lucifer.

In the penthouse, Maze is busy throwing a selection of knives at Lucifer, who is trying to work out what makes him vulnerable. Maze points out that he knows what makes him vulnerable, and if he really thought she could hurt him with something he wouldn't let her throw it. To prove the point, she throws a demon blade, and he catches it, telling her that demon daggers forged in Hell would hurt anyone.

He then tells her that it's time to send Amenadiel back to Heaven - forcibly if necessary, and holds up the blade. He then stubs his toe on a step and claims that he has discovered something else that can hurt him, just as Chloe arrives.

Chloe complains that Lucifer has been avoiding her for three weeks, but says she has a case now that she can't solve without him. He perks up, pleased that she needs him, and goes along with her, but keeps his distance, much to her annoyance. They bump into Jacob Williams, the formerly false street preacher from Stay Lucifer. Good Devil, who Lucifer truly made into a believer. He recognizes Lucifer when he and Chloe pass his group outside the theatre where the dead girl has been found. He cries that "evil is here" when he spies Lucifer.

A young woman is lying in a pentagram on the stage of the theatre, and in her back are carved the words "Hail Lucifer." Lucifer is appalled that such a thing is being blamed on him, and he calls satanists "misguided cult nobheads with Frisbees in their earlobes." Williams breaks through the cordon and throws accusations at Lucifer. Graham has him taken away, and makes a show of greeting Lucifer, who is appalled by Graham as well.

Chloe and Lucifer head out to the victim's home to see her father. Lucifer, still concerned about Chloe's ability to make him vulnerable, says he will meet her there, rather than traveling with her. Rose's father is confused, and lost, not understanding who his daughter had become. Chloe spots a hidden door, which opens into a "creepy, secret evil room" where they find an apparent sacrificial offering which Lucifer dismisses, "If that's supposed to be an offering for me, then I decline on grounds of salmonella," and the book used by the Church of the Dark Prince dedicated to Corazon by Rose.

The name is linked to a man who took Rose in for sub-dermal implants at a tattoo shop.

Graham is accosted by Amenadiel, and tells him Lucifer told him since an angel can't kill a mortal, he made a better deal. He shows him the Pentecostal coin he got from Lucifer. Graham tells him that he's now "hashtag Team Lucifer".

Chloe tries to arrange the sub dermal implants removed from the victim's arm to make a word. She tells Lucifer that she can not make sense of it and suggests "I hurl ficiis". Lucifer takes a look and quickly realizes they spell out Filii Hircus, Children of the Goat. A web search using the phrase finds a website for Church of the Dark Prince, and Filii Hircus used as a password, reveals a meeting place and time. Lucifer heads out on his own again, and meets Chloe there. They are told by the doorman the meeting is private, and Lucifer sends Chloe to the car to look for his ID and then shows his devil eyes to the doorman, who screams and abandons his post. The pair then make their way inside.

They are bemused by the ceremony taking place inside. Lucifer and Chloe witnesses the church's memorial for Rose, which Lucifer termed quite civilized. But when they went to far with goat-headed Lucifer stand-in, he interrupted, "I mean, you preach rebellion, but you're misguided sheep... Where's the real defiance? The free will? Someone killed this girl! She didn't deserve that. This is not what I stand for. Is that what you all wanted? Eh? Should be ashamed of yourselves." Onyx, the high priest then answers Chloe's questions and sets them on a new lead, Rose's boyfriend, Corazon.

Maze meets up with Amenadiel, who is upset about how things have turned out with Graham.

Chloe and Lucifer head back to Chloe's place, and he orders him not to wake Trixie while she goes have a shower. He immediately wakes Trixie up to ask her about any possible signs of scars or indications of wings on Chloe's back, Trixie demands cash for information. When Chloe returns a few moments later, she sends Trixie back to bed while Lucifer demands to inspect Chloe's back to see if she is an angel sent to destroy him. She acquiesces, and then when he finds nothing she tells him not everyone is out to get him.

A message comes in - Corazon has been found, his body was discovered hanging from the rafters in a warehouse. Red paint around the warehouse turns out to be a large anamorphic print reading 'Morningstar.' Dan suggests that this appears to be a message especially for Lucifer, Lucifer becomes angry at the idea anyone would think he was involved, "You really think I'd do these vile things? These kids were pretending to be bad, but they weren't, they were innocent, so I would never hurt them, I'm not a monster." To protect him, Chloe sends him home, but he is very upset, and heads to Linda's office, "How could she even think I'm capable? That's why I left. I thought she knew me. I thought I knew her." She suggests that one way to deal with things would be to stay away from Chloe, but he doesn't want that.

Maze is in bed with Amenadiel. She pulls a dagger out, ready to send him back to heaven but he wakes up and flies off.

Lucifer was then walking down the street, and has a clash with Williams outside Lux, which is caught on video, the furious Devil has had about enough, "It's like some kind of collective amnesia. I mean, I walk around this city of yours, solving its filthy little crimes, and this is the thanks I get? Stop blaming me! " Williams swings at him and Lucifer takes him by the neck. Graham then arrives and extracts him from the scuffle and takes him to the penthouse.

Dan and Chloe spot a cuff link at the ware house, it looks like a letter M. For Morningstar? Back at the precinct, they watch the news story where Lucifer defends himself against Williams, but it's spun as "Local club owner Lucifer Morningstar attacked Reverend Jacob Williams when Williams claimed the businessman with the devilish name was actually involved in the Satanic murders making recent headlines." Chloe objects, but then spots the cuff link Williams is wearing - it's a match for the one they found, a W not an M.

Graham is in the penthouse with the distracted Lucifer who then notices red paint on his hands and realises that it was Graham who set up the scene in the warehouse. Graham is delighted to be outed and says he has the perfect fall guy - Williams. Lucifer is horrified and furious, "Why would I be happy? I'm not evil. I punish evil," and moves to attack Graham, but an angry Amenadiel turns up to confront Lucifer and Graham flees. Amenadiel and Lucifer then fight, destroying the penthouse bar, until Maze turns up, tells them they both used her and to do their own dirty work. She lays out two demonic blades, tells them to kill each other, and then leaves.

Amenadiel departs too, leaving Lucifer without a drink, so he heads downstairs to the bar. Chloe arrives looking for him, shocked at his abused appearance. He is thoroughly miserable. She listens sympathetically - until she moves around the side of the bar and spots the body of Williams, a single shot to the head. As more officers appear in Lux, Chloe pulls a gun and points it at Lucifer, "Lucifer Morningstar, you're under arrest."
