Plot[]
The episode picks up, right where the previous episode left off, with Lucifer and Chloe having an intimate moment that is interrupted by the entrance of a flight attendant, Jana (Jennifer Cheon), an old acquaintance of Lucifer's who begins stripping as she walks in. Startled, Lucifer swears to Chloe he didn't know Jana was going to drop in, and asks Chloe not to be angry; he doesn’t want her to leave. Chloe says she isn't angry but excuses herself, saying she was about to make a big mistake. Lucifer sadly watches Chloe leave. Jana suggestively rubs up against Lucifer's back and Lucifer tells her "this flight is grounded;" walking away from her. Jana finally gets she ruined something.
The next morning Maze shows Chloe a newspaper article on the death of Perry Smith, then wonders why Chloe isn’t happier by the news. Chloe says she would have preferred Perry to rot in jail so he could suffer more. Maze, disappointed, pours vodka into a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Maze had hoped Chloe would feel a little better now that her father's killer is dead.
Meanwhile, Charlotte turns up unexpectedly at Lucifer’s, and he warns her that hot women are no longer allowed to just randomly show up at his place – and that includes his mum. She says she was wrong about Chloe, and that she is actually impressed with the detective. Charlotte tells Lucifer he needs to prove himself to his partner.
Called to a new murder scene, Lucifer tries to convince Chloe he didn’t have sex with Jana. She says it doesn’t matter and that she’s not part of the slut police - meaning him, not Jana. Lucifer says he won’t ever see Jana again. Jana turns out to be the murder victim, and he sighs, “Always with the tragic timing.” Lucifer admits he didn’t really know her, and tries to convince Chloe that Jana left five minutes after Chloe did, and he then he went directly to Lux's bar. An examination of the victim's cell phone shows threatening texts, including one that refers to ditching “that loser from Lux,” meaning Lucifer.
Back at the station, Dan reports the number on Jana’s phone is from a wealthy Silicon Valley type named Andy Kleinburg (Jamie Kennedy). Dan hangs up on Chloe when Maze shows him the newspaper headline about Perry’s death. She wants to celebrate their “righteous kill,” and Dan reminds her they didn’t kill him; the Russian mob killed Perry. He then angrily suggests they don’t see each other until it all blows over.
Lucifer and Chloe check out a party going on at Kleinburg's place. Chloe emphasises her and Lucifer's differences, stating that this sort of party is Lucifer’s idea of fun while her idea of a good time is being home with Trixie. Chloe says that they are too different, but Lucifer counters by saying he’s sure opposites attract. Kleinburg says his text "ditch the loser from Lux or else" just meant if Jana didn’t then Kleinburg and Jana wouldn't hook up. Lucifer is indignant. Chloe doesn’t think Kleinburg killed Jana, then gets a text that someone else has been murdered and the ballistics match Jana’s murder.
The next victim, another flight attendant, had also once been one of Lucifer’s lovers. Chloe points out he is the only connection between the victims so far, and suggests one of his exes might be killing all the others, bringing up Charlotte as an example of one who would be capable of murder. Again, Lucifer emphatically declares Charlotte is not an ex. Chloe asks for a list of people he’s slept with over the past eight weeks. Scores of Lucifer’s exes then show up at the police station, impressing Dan. One after another, the exes declare their night with Lucifer was the “best night of their lives.” Watching from behind the glass, Lucifer says “You know, this is actually feeling a bit masturbatory, even for me.” Chloe asks the exes if they were emotionally intimate, or if he brought them dinner, but all of them stated that he had not done anything like that and that their time with him was just sex, which surprises Lucifer. None of them appear to have a motive for murder. Chloe, however, is realizing Lucifer has genuinely been trying to get closer to her. The one take away from the interrogations is the recurrence of a creepy woman who lurks around the club watching Lucifer.
Chloe finds out the woman’s name is Suki Price (Diana Bang), but Lucifer doesn’t recognise her photo. At Suki’s apartment they find the walls covered with pictures of Lucifer and women, including Chloe, and there are hand made Lucifer dolls on the shelves. Suki then emerges from the bathroom, squeals “Lucifer!” and slams the bathroom door.
Chloe orders her out, but Lucifer says he doesn’t recognize her. Suki confirms they never slept together. She says he is her perfect man, and she loves him from afar. Lucifer suggests that not having sex with him drove her into a murderous rage, but Suki has no clue about the murders. She references her Lucifer hookup wall and points to the flight attendant section, where there is a photo of the two murder victims together. A third man in the picture is a pilot they hung out with. Chloe warns her not to leave town. Suki promises to never abandon Lucifer. Clearly, Suki has creeped Lucifer out as he then quickly flees the apartment.
Back at the station, Dan has the information on the pilot, Tim Pickman (Toby Levins), who has a police record. Dan tells them Tim is about to take off on a last-minute flight and Chloe and Lucifer head out. After stopping him from taking off, Chloe questions Pickman who says he was leaving because his closest friends just got murdered. He reveals a smuggler named Burt uses women like Jana as mules, but he was worried the guy would come after him. Jana asked Tim to smuggle, which he refused, but a package of Burt’s went missing and now Burt is going after anyone who may have taken it. Lucifer suggests they do a sting operation to get Burt to come after someone of their choosing. Maze is recruited to play a flight attendant to take down Burt.
Later, at the penthouse, Lucifer asks Amenadiel if he thinks Lucifer is “boyfriend material.” Amenadiel tells Lucifer he has underestimated him all their lives, and that maybe Lucifer underestimates himself, too. Lucifer is astonished to receive a compliment from Amenadiel who tells Lucifer to ask himself if he is a worthy romantic partner.
As they set up for the sting, Dan takes a seat at the bar as Maze walks in and sits right next to Dan. She then tells him to come clean about sleeping with Charlotte and, in the surveillance van, the listening Chloe immediately questions Lucifer asking if anyone hasn’t slept with Charlotte, and Lucifer raises his hand. She has a hard time believing him, and Lucifer promises he just wants to prove his worth to her. Chloe says they are not happening, they are very different people with different priorities. She sends him out of the van. Maze says she has Burt and heads up to her hotel room where she immediately subdues him. The man says his name is Jim and that Burt gave him money to say Jim was Burt when Burt spotted Lucifer.
Chloe and Dan head out to find Lucifer while the real Burt tells Lucifer he saw him at Kleinburg’s party. Burt thinks Jana was at Lux to stash the package, but Lucifer says Jana left quickly because he wouldn’t sleep with her, and he doesn’t think a package of cocaine is worth murdering people. Burt says the package doesn’t contain drugs, and when he then calls Jana a stupid bitch, an angry Lucifer disarms Burt, saying she deserved better than either of them: men who gave her nothing but empty pleasure. Lucifer calls Burt a bad man, and then says he himself is much worse, showing Burt his Devil face and making Burt hysterical and cowering in fear as Dan and Chloe arrive to arrest him. Lucifer heads off on his own, in a thoughtful mood.
Chloe catches up with Lucifer the next morning. He is standing by himself on a beach. Lucifer tells her he doesn’t think they would work out after all, and he won’t attempt any more “moments” and will just work with her as her partner. He confesses he had an epiphany that she deserves someone worthy of her, and that’s not him. Lucifer says she deserves someone better, “because you, Detective, are selfless to a nauseating degree. You always put your daughter first... So you deserve someone worthy of that grace. Someone who knows that every crime scene breaks your heart, even though you'd never admit it. Someone who actually appreciates your impossibly boring middle name. Jane. More importantly, Detective, you deserve someone as good as you, because... well, you're special and I'm... I'm not worth it.” She tells him he is probably right before kissing him.
