"Lady Parts" is the fourth episode of the second season of Lucifer.

Summary[]

"Lucifer and Chloe investigate a serial killer, after the bodies of two young L.A. transplants are found poisoned. Upon Maze convincing Chloe to go out for drinks, which the detective perceives as an act of friendship, but is actually part of a bet between Maze and Lucifer, the two make a shocking decision."[1]

Plot[]

The episode begins with two young men searching for their drone on the trails below the Griffith Observatory when they stumble upon a dead body of a young woman.

Meanwhile, Lucifer visits Dr. Martin for a session where he seems very distracted, and Linda tries to find out why. Lucifer responds with, “Oh, sorry right. This is the part where you dissect my deep psychological wounds, eh? The emotion-charged gong show of a child of divorce who may or may not have broken a deal with his Dad by allowing his mum to stay on Earth.” When she suggests that distraction is just him avoiding his problems, he hears that “distraction is a way to avert your problems....Ergo, the more I distract, the less I worry.” He ignores Linda's attempts to redirect him and departs.

He and Chloe arrive at the crime scene where she admits that she’s distracted. Lucifer asks, “name three friends you could call right now for a drink; and you can't say me, your child or the man you're divorcing.” Dan then provides the exposition, pointing out the ink stamp on the victim's wrist and the abandoned car registered with Uber. When they track down the driver, he says he didn’t know the victim, Daria Mitchell, but she jumped out of his car. He says Daria used his phone to call someone.

In Ella's lab, she tells them that the victim died from mandrake poisoning. They also traced the call to the last person she talked to, “Davis Fitzgerald. Owns some hot restaurant in Silver Lake.” She says she has been wanting to try it, and Lucifer tells her to drop by Lux sometime. He and Chloe then head to Fitzgerald's house, and when Chloe tells him that Daria is dead, he insists he didn’t kill her, that he was with another waitress. He says that Daria was having a girl’s night with her roommate and friends. Chloe calls Lucifer out on his complete inability to focus, and he excuses himself to call Maze, “The detective is annoying me with questions that clearly won't lead anywhere, so I need a favor....All right, then, what about a wager... Whatever you want. But you need to take the detective out and have fun. Three drinks should do the trick. ...but you're not allowed to tie her up and pour booze down her throat.”

When Chloe and Lucifer go to interview Daria’s roommate, Naomi, they are let in by their neighbor, Lily, who says that the women all feed each others cats. Lucifer weighs in, “I detest cats. Want an animal to stare at you with contempt? Get a cat. Open box of excrement in your house? Cat. Can you smell that? Foul, incontinent creatures.” The scent he assumes is cat, however, is in fact Naomi, also dead from mandrake poisoning. Naomi's body also has a triangular stamp on the wrist.

At Linda's office, Amenadiel arrives to return a book. She surmises something is wrong, and as friends, she offers to listen. He can't tell her about his wings so simply says its a physical problem, that things aren’t working the way they used to. She clearly thinks he’s talking about impotence and she suggests that he not over think it.

That night at Lux, Lucifer is about to head up to the penthouse with a couple of lovelies when Chloe shows up wanting to discuss the case. Lucifer points out that the victims will still be dead if they put this off until morning. Maze then appears and demands Chloe drink with her. Ella turns up next, taking Lucifer up on his invitation. When Chloe suggests that the victim had been at a rave, Maze says she knows the neighborhood, and that there is a tiki bar where they can ask questions. Lucifer approves, “If you want to retrace the steps of two hot girls on a girl's night, you need to think like two hot girls on a girl's night. With your lady parts.”

Maze, Ella, Chloe, and then Linda who shows up, because Maze invited her for “girl’s night” wind up at the tiki bar. Linda suggests that they all share a secret to break the ice. She reveals she was a phone sex operator to during college so she could pay for med school, Ella says she stole cars, Maze says she was forged in Hell, and Chloe says, “Single parenthood, possible homelessness, and most likely many, many cats in my future.” Linda orders tequila shots for everyone. It is pointed out to Maze that, “You're at Lucifer's beck and call 24/7. It's like you're his personal concierge....and it's not like he's pouring you any drinks.” They drink a lot more tequila, do karaoke, assure Chloe they are her tribe now, drink some more, Maze takes a picture to prove she won the bet, and then Chloe spots a man with the triangular stamp on his wrist. She immediately questions the man only to get into a fight with his girlfriend, a situation not helped when the therapist points out, “Clearly, this woman is having some serious trust issues.... Or maybe she's just a raging bitch!” An epic bar fight follows, and Maze is like a duck to water. Chloe is able to get information from the man about a pop up sex club he’d attended where he got the stamp; a new lead.

Back at the station, Chloe pours herself some coffee when Dan sees her and laughs at her state and precise amount of lost memory she claims. She proposes that he attend the next sex club party and that Lucifer accompany him so Dan looks less like a cop. When Dan arrives to meet Lucifer, Amenadiel shows up as well, they both agree that Dan looks like a cop. Lucifer tells Dan, “My first start up was a sex club. It was called Eden. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?” Lucifer and Dan question the bartender and he gives up more information about the girls, namely that they were with another blonde and left with a man called Yuri. He had no idea what mandrake even was.

The following morning, Chloe is furious to find out her girl's night was a set up, but Lucifer points out she had fun. When they later confront Yuri and he pukes on Lucifer's Italian leather shoes, she calls it karma. Yuri is ill from ingesting mandrake and says that the third blond, 'Crystal,' had clearly never told the two victims they were going to a sex party. Yuri has a picture of the three women, 'Crystal' is Daria’s neighbor, Lily.

When Lucifer and Chloe arrive at Lily’s apartment, she’s packing, but when she realizes that she’s been caught, she grabs Chloe and holds a box cutter to her throat, and says she thought mandrake was an organic roofie, the deaths were an accident. Chloe breaks her hold and beats her down with a yoga mat, yelling there was “a special place in Hell for women who fake friendships as a way of manipulating other women.” Lucifer concurs.

Later, Maze shows up at the precinct and issues her own form of apology, insisting that, “I wasn't totally faking it. Like when I strangled psycho chick for the win. That was genuine. You know, I wouldn't just kick ass for anyone. Okay, fine, I would. But this time it was sweeter....I don't do apologies. But I don't want to kill you any more.” She also informs Chloe that they are going to be roomies, they shook on it, pointing out she likes Trixie and hates Chloe's dress sense, so everything should work out fine.

When Maze tells Lucifer she’s moving in with Chloe, Lucifer responds, “No, no, no, no, no, no. And have I mentioned no, and also, no.... I can't have the women in my life teaming up, I'll be outnumbered.” She tells him she decided she doesn’t want his car for winning the bet, but she does want Lucifer to pour her a drink. He does so, “To newly defined relationships. Cheers.”

Amenadiel walks in with a massive hangover, and asks Lucifer, “What was worth writing Father, of all people, a blank check?” Lucifer says it wasn't a what but a who. He points out that since Lucifer didn’t fulfill his part of the bargain, Chloe’s life could be in danger. Lucifer doesn’t think their father would be interested in one silly human soul…as Chloe is driving, talking to Lily's landlord about taking the apartment, she gets T-boned at the intersection.
