The conflict involving Malcolm was a multifaceted conflict between Malcolm Graham, Chloe Decker, Dan Espinoza, Anthony Paolucci, Lucifer Morningstar, and Amenadiel. It ended with the defeat and death of Malcolm, the disgrace and demotion of Dan, the temporary death of Lucifer, the kidnapping and rescue of Trixie, and vindication for Chloe.

Prelude[]

After Malcolm died at the end of "Wingman," he spent a few minutes in Hell, but the Amenadiel revived him and Malcolm agreed to a deal with the angel; to murder Lucifer Morningstar. Along the way Malcolm would murder his partner, Poulucci, beat and hold captive Dan, and murder three more people before finally confronting Lucifer.

Lucifer offers Malcolm the Pentacostal Coin

Lucifer, however, convinced Malcolm that he had been played, that his brother was not only not allowed to kill the human, but had no say in who did or did not go to Hell. So, in "St. Lucifer," he cut Malcolm a new deal, offering his Pentecostal Coin to the man if he agreed not to shoot him. Malcolm takes the deal, thinking the coin will keep him out of Hell.

When later confronted by Amenadiel, Malcolm said he was now working for Team Lucifer, and in "#TeamLucifer", killed people in Lucifer's name without Lucifer's knowledge. When Lucifer finally realizes what Malcolm has done, and that the man had killed to impress him, he was furious, "Why would I be happy? I'm not evil, I punish evil.... the Devil, yes, and you think you know who that is, don't you? A torturer, maybe. An inflictor of just desserts, sure. But a senseless murderer I am not....Don't worry, Malcolm. I'm not going to send you to Hell. I'm going to bring it right to you, and after I'm finished with you, Detective Decker can put you in a cold, dark room so you can think about what you've done, young man!" Amenadiel, however, interrupts Lucifer, and in the ensuing fight between the brothers, Malcolm escapes Lucifer, taking the Coin. As a parting gesture, he murders a man in Lux and sets Lucifer up to take the fall for it.

The Conflict[]

After a fight with Lucifer, Amenadiel finally realizes what he has done by setting Malcolm against his brother and in "Take Me Back to Hell" the two agree to work together in order to find Malcolm and set things right. Investigating the murder in Lux, Dan and Chloe both realize Lucifer is innocent, and Malcolm is implicated. Amenadiel and Lucifer ask Linda for help resolving their issues so they can work together. A stunned Linda inadvertently helps them, making them realize that Malcolm plans to buy a new identity and leave the country. They go to see Neil Palmer, a funeral director, who had previously helped Lucifer with his personal documents when he first arrived in LA. Palmer tells them that Malcolm mentioned an associate, Tommy, and Lucifer figures that Dan can help him track Malcolm down.

Lucifer and Amenadiel visit Dan's office, and he points out there is a manhunt on for Lucifer. Amenadiel says that they need some information, and tells them what they have. Dan makes the connection, but doesn't want to share, so Lucifer uses his mojo, discovering Dan is one of the complex humans, and learns Dan wants to redeem himself by taking down Malcolm. Dan tells them that a drug dealer named Tommy Campolongo works out of an old brewery.

Malcolm is, indeed, at the brewery, trying to steal a stake to pay for a new ID. Tommy's heavily armed thugs confront Lucifer and Amenadiel as they enter. Lucifer suggests to Amenadiel that they avoid the time-slowing and just enjoy a fight. The two celestials walk into the hail of bullets, unharmed, and take the men down. Amenadiel suggests that they split up to cover more ground, and Lucifer agrees.

Amenadiel finds Malcolm, but Malcolm stabs him with one of Maze's blades. Maze arrives shortly after, and tells Lucifer she will take care of Amenadiel, that he should go after Malcolm. Chloe who had arrived with Maze, fires at Malcolm and causes him to drop the bag of cash he had stolen. She retrieves that, but he gets away. When Lucifer then appears, she says that she always knew he was innocent and shows him the money. She suggests that they capture Malcolm together, and he realizes that Chloe wants to clear his name so that she can keep working with him. Dan arrives with backup and says that he has the evidence to clear Lucifer.

Later, Chloe gets a call from Trixie, but it's Malcolm, who has kidnapped Chloe's daughter - he wants the money. Once Chloe confirms that Trixie is okay, Malcolm tells her to bring him the money to him and not to involve Lucifer. He tells Chloe to come alone or Trixie dies. Chloe commandeers the bag of cash, and extracts a promise from Lucifer that he will let her go alone. She arrives at the hangar where Malcolm is waiting, Trixie has told him she doesn't like him, affronted he replies, "What's not to like?" When he confirms Chloe had come alone, he has her slide her guns over, but Chloe refuses to hand over the money until Trixie goes free. Malcolm sends Trixie to Chloe, and she tells her to hide until she can come find her. Once Trixie runs off, Chloe opens the trunk of her car and says that he doesn't need to kill her. He says that he was going to shoot her at Palmetto anyway and figures that this is a second chance.

A paper airplane then lands at Malcolm's feet, distracting him, and Chloe runs off. Lucifer enters and tells Malcolm to give him the gun. Malcolm refuses, and Lucifer asks him what he desires. He asks if Malcolm really wants to kill Chloe with his second chance. Malcolm says that he wants to live more than almost anything, and shoots Lucifer in the gut. As Chloe watches, Lucifer collapses and Malcolm says, "You feel that? That's what it's like to die, my man. I know, 'cause I've done it. And what I want, more than anything... is for you to feel that pain. To go through what I did. Because we both know where you're going to." He then tells Lucifer he will send Chloe along right after him. Lucifer asks his Father to protect Chloe and then dies.

Malcolm stalks Chloe, tracking her through the hangar. As he approaches her, Lucifer pops up and punches him in the face. Chloe grabs her gun from the floor and shoots Malcolm four times in the chest. Dying, Malcolm tells Lucifer, "It doesn't matter.  I've got your coin,  I'll be back." Lucifer, however, holds up the coin and asks if it was what Malcolm was looking for. He says that he knows a Guy, who apparently wants Lucifer on Earth. He tells the desperate Malcolm that it was a "one use only" coin. He tosses it up into the air and Malcolm grabs for it, but the coin disintegrates as it falls. Lucifer then calmly watches Malcolm die.
